How To Keep Computer Screen On
Spray a small amount of the solution onto the cloth instead of the screen to prevent water damage to your computer. Next, gently wipe the screen in a circular motion, making sure not to press your fingers into the screen, which can damage the pixels. On the left hand side of the Display window, select Change Display Settings, then select Advanced Settings on the window that appears. Select the Monitor tab. Using the setting labeled Screen Refresh Rate, you will be able to access a drop down menu listing all the possible refresh rates available for your computer.
I don’t know about you, but I really preferred having the My Computer icon right on the desktop. Seems like modern versions of windows don’t have it by default anymore. There are two different ways you can add the icon back.
In Windows 10 the My Computer icon is called “This PC” and it’s pretty easy to add back. Keep reading for Windows 7, 8, and Vista instructions below.
Add the My Computer Icon to the Windows 10 Desktop
If you want to add Computer, Recycle Bin, Control Panel, or your User folder icon to the desktop in Windows 10, there’s an extra step you’ll need to know how to do. First, right-click on the desktop and choose Personalize.

Now select Themes on the left-hand menu, and then once you are there, you can select Desktop icon settings under the “Related Settings” section.
And now you can click the checkboxes for the icons that you want back.
You should see the icons show up as soon as you click Apply.
Note: you can rename This PC to My Computer by simply right-clicking and choosing Rename.
Add the My Computer Icon to the Desktop in Windows 7, 8, or Vista
Right-click on the desktop and choose Personalize, then click on “Change Desktop Icons” on the left-hand side of the screen.
In the Desktop Icons panel you can choose which of the built-in icons to show on the desktop:
One of the most common requests is how to add the Recycle bin back… which you can also do from the above panel.
Another Trick in Windows 7 or Vista
To put the Computer icon on the desktop, click the Start button, and then right-click on “Computer”.
Click the “Show on Desktop” item in the menu, and your Computer icon will show up on the desktop.

It’s probably not the internet that’s stopping; it’s the entire computer.
The default configuration for most laptops these days is to go into Standby, or even Hibernation, when the laptop is closed.
How To Keep Computer Screen On And Not Turn Off
Fortunately, it’s just a setting you can control in Windows.
Windows includes a fairly robust, if somewhat confusing, array of power management options. And like many options, they’re in Control Panel.
Fire up Control Panel and double click on Power Options. You should see something along these lines:
Click on the Advanced tab for this:
Note the items in the Power Buttons section, in particular the one labeled “When I close the lid of my portable computer:”. This has two or three options: Stand by (the default), Hibernate (if you have hibernation enabled) and Do nothing.
I’m guessing it’s Do nothing you really want. It also happens to be what I use most of the time – particularly when I’m mobile, I’d like to be able to close my laptop for carrying without having it shut down on me.
Click on the list drop-down arrow at the far right of Stand by:
Click on Do nothing, and then click on either OK or Apply.
You should now be able to close your laptop and have it keep downloading without interruption.
